What it’s like to partner with the Pathways team

You'll have access to clinical experts who understand the realities of hematology/oncology and transplant care—so you can move patients forward with confidence.

All our Pathways to Transplant team members have worked in the hematology/oncology or transplant setting.

You'll connect first with a medical science liaison who’s a nurse practitioner or physician assistant.
We'll work alongside your practice—and the transplant center—to weave programs and services into your workflow.
You'll have ongoing, as-needed support from a provider relations manager.

Frequently asked questions from hematology/oncology practices

There’s no cost to your practice or your patients to use the services we provide through Pathways to Transplant—including HLA Today or our Patient Support Center. There’s no catch and no hidden costs.

NMDP’s mission is to save lives through cell therapy. And our mission-driven model focuses on eliminating treatment barriers and helping patients thrive after transplant.

The program’s costs are covered through financial gifts from NMDP supporters and organizational funds.
Nearly all our resources and services are available for you and your patients even if you haven’t formally onboarded to the Pathways to Transplant program. NMDP HLA Today is one exception.

However, there are many advantages to becoming a Pathways to Transplant partner including:
- Support implementing programs like HLA Today into your workflow
- Better access to transplant centers in the NMDP Network
- Having an NMDP point of contact for ongoing questions or needs
- Access to on-site or virtual Educational Event CME programs for your team

No. Your team will continue to refer patients to the transplant center for consultation and treatment just as you always have. Our team is here to make the path to—and from—transplant smoother for your patient and your team.
Yes! We want to make sure all patients are well-informed and understood.

Most of our patient and caregiver resources are available in English and Spanish. Many are available in up to 12 languages to help all your patients and their families navigate treatment with confidence.

If your patient or their loved ones would like to talk to someone, we have navigators and social workers who are bilingual in English and Spanish. We also have interpreter services available in 100+ languages.
Transplant centers have told us that involvement from the patient’s hematology/oncology practice is important both before referral and after transplant.

They want HLA typing to happen as soon after diagnosis as possible. It takes an average of 100 days to get from a preliminary donor search to donor cell collection and transplant.

Starting that clock before referral can mean the difference between a patient having transplant during their remission window and disease relapse that makes transplant impossible—or outcomes worse.

Your team is critical post-transplant, too. Patients need long-term monitoring that will most likely happen at your center.
