First, a medical science liaison from our NMDP Pathways to Transplant team will contact you within 1-2 business days. We’ll start with a few questions to confirm eligibility.

If your practice is eligible for the HLA Today program, you’ll fill out an onboarding questionnaire so we have the information we need to best serve your practice.

After onboarding is complete, we’ll ship kits to your practice.

If your patient has an urgent need, please email PathwaysToTransplant@nmdp.org so we can discuss your situation and available options.

Onboarding to HLA Today helps us ensure you have the resources and support you need to successfully implement early HLA typing in your practice.

HLA Today kits are typically shipped within 1–2 business days after you complete the onboarding questionnaire.

The HLA Today kits are self-contained and easy to use. The kit includes:

• Buccal swabs
• Swabbing instructions
• Hematology/oncology practice and transplant center information form
• Patient information form and consent

You’ll also get pre-paid FedEx envelopes to return the completed kits for high-resolution patient HLA typing.

Within 7-10 business days, you’ll receive your patient’s high‑resolution HLA typing and an initial donor search report. Early consultation with a transplant center is encouraged, regardless of search results.

After we receive the kit, your patient will also receive a proactive call, text or email from an NMDP navigator.

The navigator will:

• Assess non-medical treatment barriers your patient may have
• Connect them to no-cost education, programs and resources
• Help them understand financial assistance that may be available

Yes! We want to set your practice up for success. You’ll connect first with a medical science liaison from our NMDP Pathways to Transplant team who’s a nurse practitioner or physician assistant. They’ll work with your practice—and the transplant center—to help you implement HLA Today in your workflow.

You’ll have ongoing, as-needed support from a provider relations manager on our team.

All of our Pathways to Transplant team members have experience in the hematology/oncology or transplant center setting.
