Clinical trial navigation and support
Help your patients find clinical trials
For many patients, treatment through a clinical trial provides hope and a potential cure. But finding the right trial for your patient isn’t always easy.
Our NMDPSM clinical trials navigators can help your patients, their loved ones and your team explore clinical trial options so you can stay focused on patient care. There's no cost for your patient or their family members to work with a navigator.
How our clinical trials navigators can help
A clinical trials navigator works one-on-one with your patients and their families to help them:
- Learn about treatment options
- Search for trials they may qualify for
- Get answers to their questions
- Prepare for conversations with their doctor or study team
Our clinical trials navigators can also work directly with you or your team and save you time by:
- Conducting a national clinical trials search on behalf of your patients
- Providing education to support your patients as they prepare for enrollment
- Navigating your patients through the health care system and gathering medical records
- Applying for grants to assist your patients with travel costs to participate in a study
A bilingual navigator is available to support patients or family members who prefer to communicate in Spanish. We can also support those with other language needs through a telephone interpreter service.
Our hospital didn’t have a suitable clinical trial for my patient. The navigator was very knowledgeable and able to search for trials across the country for him.

Jason Carter’s story: finding clinical trials
When Jason Carter was diagnosed with leukemia, his family spent hours searching for clinical trials on their own, trying to understand which trials might help.
He joined two clinical trials that gave him more time with the people he loved.
After he passed away, his parents wanted to make sure no other family had to navigate that search alone.
Their gift to NMDP helped build the clinical trial navigation support we offer patients today.
