Program Overview

Despite progress, racial and ethnic disparities remain in hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT). Watch this on-demand CME and CE webinar for insights into some of the latest research into racial and ethnic disparities in HCT and the role all hematology/oncology practitioners play in combating these disparities.

Target audience

This educational activity is intended for physicians, nurses, and other members of the health care team who care for patients who may benefit from hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

 

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the learners should be able to:

  • Review recent trends in access to and outcomes of HCT among racial and ethnic groups
  • Describe a recent Blood and Marrow Transplant Clinical Trials Network (BMT CTN) study that showed gaps in access to HCT and clinical trials diversity
  • Explain how coordinated care and outreach between community hematology/oncology practices and transplant centers can improve HCT access and combat racial and ethnic disparities
  • Discuss major barriers patients who need HCT face, particularly those from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups

Instructions for Participation and Requesting Credit

There are no fees for participating and receiving credit for this activity. Successful completion is achieved by reviewing the CE information, completing the pre-test, completing the activity, and completing the post-test and evaluation form. A score of at least 75% on the posttest is required to successfully complete this activity. The participant may take the test until successfully passed.
