Target Audience

This educational activity is intended for physicians, nurses, and other members of the health care team who care for patients who may benefit from hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

Program Overview

Despite progress, racial and ethnic disparities remain in hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT). Watch this on-demand CME and CE webinar for insights into some of the latest research into racial and ethnic disparities in HCT and the role all hematology/oncology practitioners play in combating these disparities.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the learners should be able to:

  • Review recent trends in access to and outcomes of HCT among racial and ethnic groups
  • Describe a recent Blood and Marrow Transplant Clinical Trials Network (BMT CTN) study that showed gaps in access to HCT and clinical trials diversity
  • Explain how coordinated care and outreach between community hematology/oncology practices and transplant centers can improve HCT access and combat racial and ethnic disparities
  • Discuss major barriers patients who need HCT face, particularly those from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups
